Shutter Speed

Shutter speed both affects the amount of light and the appearance of motion. It is represented in seconds, whch is the time when the shutter is open to allow light to reach the sensor. Mulitple modes on the Olympus cameras that we are using allow us to adjust shutter speed, including Manual mode and S-Mode. The differences between them are the amount of maximum time the shutter can be open. On manual mode, the shutter can be open for four seconds, wheras on S-mode, the shutter can be open for fifteen. Shutterspeed is vital for photographers because it gives you more creative ways to make a photograph. For example, you could use a slow shutter speed at night to catch the ambient light. When we did these photos, we used a shutter speed of four seconds that allowed us to maniuplate the lighting.
